Giving

Our God is a generous God! Everything we have comes from Him, so our giving is a response to God’s generosity to us. We give back a little of what God has given to us (1 Chronicles 29:14).

St Barnabas’ church is entirely self-funded by our congregation and members of our community. We serve the community of Caversham Park and Emmer Green: several hundred people use our buildings every week. We offer warm, welcoming spaces to keep body and soul together: through fellowship or learning, to keep fit, celebrate, or just have a cup of coffee and a chat – and to meet God in worship (and other places too!). In addition, our social and fundraising events support charitable work both locally and overseas.

Regular giving

If you consider that St Barnabas is your home church, please support our mission and ministry by giving regularly.

A significant number of us give between £50 and £250 per month, with some giving less and some giving more. We all need to give proportionately to support the work of our church. This means thinking about the various costs we have in our lives, and valuing our church and its life sensibly within that.

We therefore encourage you to give as generously as you can to support the mission and ministry of St Barnabas church.

  • Donate monthly, quarterly or annually by Direct Debit
  • Enhance your gift by having Gift Aid added to your giving
  • Option for your giving to be inflation-linked (annually)
  • Give securely and donate anonymously, if you prefer

One-Off gifts

We welcome individual gifts, which you can make through our Givealittle page: you can complete online, including gift-aid using the button below. Alternatively you can make a payment to our PCC account (online bank transfer or cheque), using the details below.

Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

If you are a UK tax payer please do complete a Gift Aid Declaration form, available in church (this allows us to reclaim the tax aid on your donation, at no cost to you).

Legacies

Once you have made provision for your loved ones, you have the opportunity to make a lasting gift to St Barnabas church, by leaving a legacy to the church. A gift in your Will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can continue to support our mission and ministry within your community. Unless otherwise specified, legacies to St Barnabas are used for capital investment in new projects. We don’t use legacies to fund day-to-day running costs. A gift can be an expression of your gratitude and thanksgiving towards God, and will help transform our future. There is more information on the Church of England Legacies page.
