Notices for Sunday 14th April (Easter 3)

Our Annual Parochial Church Meeting is coming up on Saturday 20th April (see notices), with election of churchwardens and PCC members. Please do get involved.  Also this week, as schools begin summer term, we are starting a Toddler Group on Thursday mornings – please let young families know.

Notices:

APCM.  Our Annual Parish Church Meeting is on Saturday 20th April in the Parish Centre, in three parts: at 9:30am a meeting of parishioners to decide if we wish to disapply section 3 of the Churchwardens measure (2001) which limits wardens’ tenure of office; at 10:00am the main Annual Parochial Church Meeting; followed by an open meeting to discuss and ask questions about our future direction at St Barnabas.  Annual reports have been widely circulated on email, there are some printed copies in the Parish Centre for those without email/printer access.

Earth Day Litter Pick! Monday 22nd April is Earth Day, a global movement to remind us of the importance of looking after our environment. Christine Bartlett is organising a litter pick in the afternoon: please speak to her to join in (and tell her where the litter pick is most needed!)

AB Walker Annual Memorial Service: this will take place in The Minster, Reading RG1 2LG, on Sunday 21st April, starting at 4:00pm. All Welcome.

Churches Together in Caversham (CTC) Annual Assembly: 23rd April, 7:30pm here at St Barnabas – please support this important collaboration between the churches in Caversham.

Environmental Film Night: Tues 14th May (7-9pm) in St Barnabas Church. Join us for a screening of the thought-provoking environmental documentary, The Oil Machine. Followed by a discussion about the impact of oil on our society and the environment. Click here to book or just turn up.

Scour your sheds for Mission in the Gambia! Alan Tuvey is inviting donations of surplus plumbing, electrical fittings, pipe, fixings, screws and tools, to help fit out a Pastor’s house in west Africa. Contact Alan by email: [email protected] or see the poster on the Parish Centre noticeboard.

Toys out, chairs back, kettle on - bring your toddlers into St Barnabas Parish Centre from 8:45am on Thursdays: as the new term starts, were holding a Toddler group each Thursday morning - just drop in!
Hard hats on today, as we visited the RE3 recycling centre, to see what happens to our household waste.  Thank-you to Monika and her colleagues for an informative tour.  #environmentallyfriendly #recycling
