This year marks the centenary of the 1914 – 18 war which has been described as the Great War.
Parish Churches in the Oxford Diocese are asked to consider opening their doors on the 4th August for quiet reflection and remembrance. St. Barnabas Church will be open from 10.0.a.m. to 12 noon marking a vigil for peace and remembrance. People are invited to spend time in the church and to come and go as they please. The church bell will be rung every half hour between 10.0.a.m. and 12 noon.
An open meeting will be held on the 7th August at 8.00.p.m. in the Parish Centre. The theme will be “We will remember them” – a commemoration of WW1 in poetry, prose and music. All welcome. Light refreshments will be served.
