This year is a special year within the Diocese It is the final year of the first five-year phase of the “Living Faith” vision. It is also the year when we are focusing on the future strand “Shaping Confident Collaborative Leadership”.
Important events which have already taken place include a Clergy Conference and an LLM Conference. Collectively all the planned events offer time to think afresh about the challenges and opportunities of living as Christians in the 21st century.
On the 20th September a gathering for the whole church family is being arranged in Oxford. This is Bishop John’s call to pray together and play together and to reflect our shared journey. The programme will be made up of a range of activities and workshops, inspiring speakers, music and a mini pilgrimage. There will be a youth stream, family events and a programme for people with learning disabilities. It is planned to end the day with a celebration open-air Eucharist for the whole diocese presided over by Bishop John. This will coincide with the opportunity to thank the Bishop for all his ministry as he retires sometime next month.
The following day, 21st September congregations are invited to mark the theme of Imagination with a special service.
