AN EVENING WITH JIM ALCORN

An open meeting is being arranged in the Parish Centre on February 23rd at 8.00.p.m.

The speaker will be Jim Alcorn who is the Co-ordinator of the Bible Study Group on Wednesday evenings. Please come and support Jim if possible. Light refreshments will be served.

Jim in his own words:-

I am originally from Scotland. Most of my younger years were spent on a small island called Cumbrae in the Firth of Clyde. I moved to Bristol in 1980 where I met my wife Pam. Pam’s parents lived in St Peter’s Avenue in Caversham. We married in St Peter’s church in 1984. We have lived in a number of places and countries over the years but the last 10 have been spent in Reading in Caversham and Emmer Green. My church background is quite varied: Christian Brethren, Baptist and now Anglican. Pam and I have been coming to St Barnabas for less than a year having previously worshipped at Caversham Evangelical Church.

I recently retired after 32 years in the Financial Services industry, mainly in I.T. and Business Analysis.

My main interests are running, cycling and playing guitar.

For the past 6 months I have had the privilege of leading the weekly Bible Study Group which I enjoy immensely.
