Notices for Sunday 28th April (Easter 5)

Our Handyman Sale is world famous in Emmer Green, and it’s on Saturday 4th May at 10am – please come along and bring all your friends.  We also need help to set up and take down afterwards (see notices section).

Prayer for the week:
Risen Christ, your wounds declare your love for the world and the wonder of your risen life: give us compassion and courage to risk ourselves for those we serve, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

HANDYMAN SALE is Saturday 4th May, opens at 10:00am.  Invite your friends!  Also Wendy Howell would appreciate offers of help: setting up, Friday from 11am (including moving tables etc.); helping the sale itself, plus tidying up afterwards.  Please support – this is one of our major community events and it raises funds for our African education projects.

Alma Bone: the funeral of our late sister Alma is on Friday 3rd May, at Reading Crematorium, starting 1:30pm.

Toddler Thursdays: from 8:45am every Thursday in term-time. For pre-schoolers and their parents/carers.  Please spread the word.

Eco tip: Attention chocolate lovers! Tony’s Open Chain is an industry-led initiative helping chocolate brands to sustainably transform the supply of cocoa, eliminating child labour and slavery. Look out for the yellow open chain sticker on Waitrose own brand chocolate and Tony’s Chocolonely products.

Ascension Day Thursday 9th May.  Advance notice of a service to mark Ascension Day at 7:00pm that evening.

Renewing our work with Children and Young People.  Deanery conference at Greyfriars church, Saturday 11th May 9am-1pm. A group of us are going from St Barnabas, click here to reserve a place.

Environmental Film Night: Tuesday 14th May (7-9pm) in St Barnabas Church. Join us for a screening of the thought-provoking environmental documentary, The Oil Machine. Followed by a discussion about the impact of oil on our society and the environment. Click here to book or just turn up.

Scour your sheds for Mission in the Gambia! Alan Tuvey is inviting donations of surplus plumbing, electrical fittings, pipe, fixings, screws and tools, to help fit out a Pastor’s house in west Africa. Contact Alan by email: [email protected] or see the poster on the Parish Centre noticeboard.

Toys out, chairs back, kettle on - bring your toddlers into St Barnabas Parish Centre from 8:45am on Thursdays: as the new term starts, were holding a Toddler group each Thursday morning - just drop in!
Hard hats on today, as we visited the RE3 recycling centre, to see what happens to our household waste.  Thank-you to Monika and her colleagues for an informative tour.  #environmentallyfriendly #recycling
