The St Barnabas Music Group consists of about 14 musicians of varying age and ability. Instruments include Cornets, Trumpets, French Horn, Saxophones, Oboe, Viola, Cello, Recorders, Glockenspiels and Piano. We rehearse and/or perform approx. 3 or 4 times per term. Whilst you don’t have to be an accomplished player to join the group (parts are written according to grade/ability), a minimum Grade 1 or age of around 9 years is suggested. Members do have to be committed as most practising is done at home.
Music is just one part of our Creative Ministry and our aim is to enhance the worship at St Barnabas with a mixture of church and secular music. As with any group activity, members also benefit from working as a team and people of all abilities learning to appreciate each other. We work, learn and grow together in faith.
