The welcome Eucharist for the Rt Revd Steven Croft the Bishop of Oxford on the 5th October in St. Mary’s Church Reading was an extremely special service. The Bishop preached a most challenging sermon with excerpts from Psalm 96. It contained challenges to consider the importance of being ready for change embracing the need for the Church to re-engage with huge swathes of the population which has completely lost touch with the Christian faith.
The music from the choir was most uplifting, the church was full and the refreshments were absolutely delicious. It was good to have the opportunity to chat to a number of people. I came away from the service feeling that I had attended a most memorable occasion.
